ReVrence is the new band
in town

Three
teenagers and one adult (the bass players Father) have come together to
form a new Christian Rock band.
ReVrence developed from the youth ministry of the
First United Methodist Church of Lineville.
The group has been practicing for just over three months, and
played their debut concert at the church on October 31st.
Since that time they have played for Heritage Day and the
Methodist Charge Conference at their home church.
ReVrence plays a variety of softer Christian rock
songs, but they also offer a heavy set.
Lineville High School Junior Lauren Harmon is the talented
lead vocalist. She has been singing since she was a small child
and has been o regular in the youth choir.
Lauren can do the softer Christian contemporary style songs,
but she is also rapidly developing her voice for the hard-edged songs,
too.
Chris Nall, the drummer, is the elder statesman of the group,
and his experience playing in rock bands in his earlier years gives ReVrence
a definite edge over other aspiring bands.
His son, Rusty, rounds out the rhythm section, playing bass
guitar. The talented LHS sophomore also plays acoustic guitar and
helps out with backup vocals.
LHS Junior Justin Dean is the lead guitar player, but also
helps out with backup vocals.
Dean is rapidly developing his skills with the powerful
chords and lead riffs that go with the band's brand of music.
The group members do witness for Christ during their sets,
using basic personal testimonies to which other young people can relate.
These are kept short and to the point.
ReVrence is looking for places to play, but a word of
warning. Don't expect to hear old-fashioned hymns. This
group has geared their music to a new generation with open minds and
open ears.
As I've said in other reviews, the message in the music and
who it reaches are what's important, not our likes and dislikes.
Groups such as ReVrence have a chance to touch young lives
who might not otherwise hear the Gospel, so let's give them our love,
prayers and encouragement. |
